Nintendo Switch HAC-001 Battery Replacement
Today in the workshop we completed a battery replacement on a Nintendo Switch HAC-001.
The customer’s Switch had a battery issue, so our technician opened the console, removed the rear housing, disconnected the original battery and installed a replacement battery. After fitting the new battery, the console was reassembled and tested.
What we did
For this repair, we:
- Removed the back cover of the Nintendo Switch
- Carefully accessed the internal battery compartment
- Disconnected and removed the original HAC-001 battery
- Installed the replacement battery
- Checked the internal layout before reassembly
- Tested the console after the repair

Nintendo Switch battery replacements need to be done carefully because the battery sits inside the console near delicate internal components, connectors and ribbon cables. The battery is also secured firmly, so safe removal is important to avoid damaging the console.

Why replace a Nintendo Switch battery?
A Nintendo Switch battery may need replacing if the console:
- Drains quickly
- Does not hold charge
- Shuts down unexpectedly
- Only works while plugged in
- Takes too long to charge
- Has an ageing or swollen battery
If your Nintendo Switch is not lasting as long as it used to, a battery replacement may help extend the life of the console.
